Interview with first D.ROCK fan in Asia !

2015/5/13 Sunny Day

Champagne D.ROCK Taiwan Team interviewed the very first D. ROCK fan in Asia, Michael Chang, a general manager of Corner Office, an American restaurant designed in vintage industrial style near Sun Yet San memorial hall, Taipei.

Michael devotes himself into his job with the passion to F&B industry combined with the life experiences in the U.S. He receives everyone with a big warm smile. In what reason has he become a fan to the sparkle bubbles of Champagne D. ROCK?

 (M=Michael ; E=Editor)

1. Please briefly introduce your life experience and job.

M:I am the manager of Corner Office (Picture 1), which is owned by my friend. Before ten years old, I had stayed in the U.S. since I was two. After fifteen, I went back to the states and I decided to work in Taiwan when I turned thirty. That is the reason why I asked if I can response the questions in English, but I am fine with Mandarin (laugh). I was working at my friend’s company for the first two years after I came back from the U.S. I quitted the job, for I want to do what I am really interested in. After I met the owner of Corner Office incidentally, I decided to join this restaurant with strong interests in hospitality and F & B industries.

2. There are various liquors in the restaurant, have you gained experiences in food and beverage pairing through your job?

M:Now I am familiar with more alcohol drinks than before, including beers, champagnes, cocktails and spirits. With the life experience in the states, I am used to have bergur, Mexican food, pasta and salads. I have gained lots of know-how of engaging a restaurant, which is the most important thing I have learned.

3. What’s your first impression to  D. Rock? What made you decide to purchase 3 bottles only by seeing the photos?

M:Two weeks ago, I met Chris Kuo (Founder at CELEBRITY’S Champagne) in the restaurant. He showed me the pictures of D. Rock and I was fascinated by it’s special designed bottle. However, I planned to collect one in the beginning. And then, since it’s the very first launch in Asia, so I decided to buy one for my boss as a gift, the other one for a female friend, who was also attracted by the bottle for the first sight.

4. What attracts you the most of D. Rock?

M:The bottle attracted me for the first time I browsed the fan page of D. ROCK ASIA. I determined to collect the champagne after Chris told me that it’s the first bottle in Asia. In a matter of fact, I don’t know much about champagne, the only thing I can confirm is that my face turns blushed after drinking wines (laugh).

5. Do you usually consume champagne?

M:No, I barely consume alcohol.

E:In what occasion would you drink alcohol?

M:Actually, I only drink a bit whiskey while being with friends in karaoke. I don’t drink during work or any other occasion. Usually, I drink more spirits than wines, such as Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

E:So you consume more spirits?

M:Yes, I drink more spirits. It is because that I am not fond of drinking, so I choose the liquors, which content higher alcohol degree. It’s easier to feel tipsy, otherwise, I might feel sick if I drink too much.

6. Do you pay attention to luxuries? Which brands are you fond of?

M:Actually, I adore luxuries, such as cars, watches and purses. I don’t purchase much, one good thing would be enough. I wear Panerai watch, drive Lexus, hold L.V. purses, wear GUCCI belt and HUGO BOSS suits. However, I don’t purchase many of the luxuries, few goods with high quality and high value would be sufficient.

Therefore, I can’t afford for one bottle if D Rock is sold hundred thousands per bottle, but I won’t purchase if it’s only one thousand.

7. In what occasion would you share D. Rock ?

M:I give two bottles for gifts and the left one will be preserved for my friends’ birthday or reunion party. However, one bottle for party will not be enough, so I think I should buy more for parties. (E: We will import 6 L next time. M: Then I will put sparkles on the neck of the bottle.) I will save the bottle for showing off that it’s the first bottle of D. Rock in Asia after the bottles are empty, which I think it would be quick.

Note: It's our pleasure to have this interview in the restaurant surrounded by the American style decorated brick house. It’s beautiful to have D. Rock fan’s sharing personal experiences about champagne and food.
